Selten-Ubel ‎– s/t 12"

Selten-Ubel is a well kept secret. Soon it's been three years since this album was released, that name was ticked on the list of records to get but an incomprehensible passivity doubled a big laziness and an object that does not bloom at every corner of the discs have always delayed the deadline. With the renewed interest for groups in Brut and their famous recent compilation, the error is finally repaired. Selten-Ubel was a very ephemeral project, the space of two and only two concerts plus the time to give birth to this 5 titles. Included in this quartet are Dave Basford and Carey Balch, two active members of New Brutalism and Soldier Brut. Contrary to these projects, Selten-Ubel makes a breach of the Gross settlement. The additions are not square. The lines are not guidelines. This is the domain of the subtly deviant. Their usual noise-rock world seen through a prism. The melodies of guitars take funny curves. The rhythm is erratic. The pieces are smashed in unlikely breaks, all supported by a voice of sou bacon. But all of this is incredibly consistent. Fist under their false airs of debauchery. Selten-Ubel controlled the direction of the counter-foot, the art of parenthesis with solid between the two. Five tracks perfectly controlled for all lovers of Shorty, US Maple and other originals of white noise. Selten-Ubel has never deigned to give a follow-up and comes to my mind these same words as at the death of Carlos: what a waste!

Released in 2005.
