Capsula – In The Land Of Silver Souls lp
Since their formation in 1997, Capsula have carried out the mission of becoming one of the best live bands of our generation. Receiving acclaim both in Europe and America, the tireless trio break through barriers as a whirlwind of psychedelia noise with dark post-punk fury and primitive garage rock roars wafting through space kraut atmospheres. Their impressive live performance has made them be compared to bands like The Stooges, Sonic Youth, The Birthday Party or Comets on Fire. Based in Bilbao but constantly on tour, the band released the album Rising Mountains in 2009 with the famous BCore Disc label, generating excellent reviews in the United States and chosen as the best album of the year in Spain by Ruta 66 and Mondosonoro (Zarata) magazines.
The group's volcanic staging live was repeatedly witnessed at international festivals such as SXSW, CMJ, Canadian Music Week, Culture Collide Festival Filter or BBK Live, as well as on extensive world tours. Attending a live Capsula concert is an experience that is hard to forget. The turbulence and excitement of the guitars burst over urgent rhythms, sounding as if ten musicians were on stage going through lysergic snapshots. The press has turned to them. This is how they have received important praise from media such as Rolling Stone, Wired, Pitchfork, The Chicago Tribune in the United States, Route 66, Rockdelux and Mondosonoro in Spain, among others. In 2011, the trio will release their new sound masterpiece, In The Land Of Silver Souls, an album that will be released on March 7 in Spain and Europe. In The Land Of Silver Souls expands on the sounds previously explored on Rising Mountains, pushing the experience further into psychedelic territory while maintaining both the band's attitude and charm.
The male/female vocal duel between Martín Guevara (vocals/guitar) and Coni (vocals/bass) equally captivates both in harmonization with thick vocal melodies, and separately. His journey through aspects of the rock sound of the 60s and 70s (Stones, T-Rex, Velvet Underground) are still present, between deep and dark rhythms on the drums (Ignacio Villarejo). Space Travels plunge into immense walls of sound thanks to the contributions of John Agnello (mixing, production) and Santi García (recording), for an album that will make a lot of noise in 2011.
