Facehugger / Pleasure Cruise Split 7"

Facehugger started with Paul, David and John after a night at Kirkwood Baller’s Club. They played an improvisational set with three drummers, guitar and electronics at Lenny’s Bar and after choosing the name Facehugger on a whim they played a semi-structured frenzy of a set in a basement, including a self styled rapper trying to take the microphone, an OMD cover, some people fleeing from the noise and some being drawn to it.

Facehugger have been compared to Joy Division, Cabaret Voltaire, Smerge, Arab On Radar and other post-punk new/no wave bands.

Viewing and listening to live sets has been described as either horrifying or enthralling, the guitar playing described once as scary and questions asked about why the vocalist keeps shaking.

Pleasure Cruise is a kitsch goth-punk outfit conjured by two songwriters, Sunni J and Rad Ross, who dabble in subject matter expressive of the Hollywood Babylon sex, drugs and rock n roll mantra, polishing off B-movie fantasies with flamboyant lyrics and onstage theatrics.

Blending distorted guitars, lush-layered keyboards and manic sampling, the duo’s shared duties between bass, vocals and the occasional guitar sit atop programmed danceable, electronic beats and a variety of retro-active synth sounds.
