Vera Fang – Conscumption 7"
Army of Bad Luck – A playful animal with a mean bite, Vera Fang is one of the newer additions to Atlanta’s burgeoning music scene. Vera Fang’s art-punk sound recalls the likes of Nation Of Ulysses, Mika Miko, The Birthday Party and The B-52’s and this is their debut four song 7”.
Their first release features four songs that reflect the band’s various influences, but also maintain an original vision. Sunni Johnson’s dark and driving bass lines follow the primal simplicity of early metal and lay the foundation for all the songs. Jeff Cook’s wiry gutter-guitar weaves in and out of the tunes, at times discordant and other times harmonious. Zopi Kristjanson’s lyrics avoid auto-biographical subject matter and lean more towards make-believe and notions of alter egos. Meanwhile Shane Patrick keeps it all together on drums.
This 7” comes with a cd-r which features remixes by Belong, Black Dominoes and Diet Cola of select tracks.
