OSO ‎– Sealand lp

The coming-out of OSO is great news. After an EP, Songs About God, which they produced themselves and which moved between raw and minimalist environments, the Barcelona band made up of former members of groups like Her Only Pressence, Tetsuo or Puerto Esperanza abandons the trio format to embrace a much more richer in nuances. The entry into the line-up of Ignasi Carrer (Puerto Esperanza), Natalia Escaño (keyboards) and Mario Patiño (guitar) has meant a great qualitative leap in terms of expressiveness, something that the listener will appreciate when facing Sealand (Bcore, 2012 ). If OSO's songs used to look you in the eye, now the complexity of the arrangements embraces you from all sides. The ten songs that make up the album show us a very versatile band, with a fantastic nose for sophisticated compositional arrangements and also for the most suggestive melodies and alternative country airs.

Capable of combining electric and acoustic sounds and using an astonishing number of instruments, the group's expressive palette surprises with its richness and packaging. With a sound reminiscent of the American folk rock bands that have marked the independent scene in recent years (The Decemberists, Iron and Wine, Wilco or Fleet Foxes), OSO show undoubted mastery when it comes to endowing their compositions with warm textures that do not disgust the epic content or the border approaches. The production of the album takes full advantage of the new orientation of the group and its songs. Sealand was recorded at the La Atlántida Studios by the experienced hands of Mario Patiño and Edgar Beltri. Both the mixing and the mastering of the ten songs were carried out in the US, a true luxury that has reverted to the benefit of the compositions themselves. Like a ray of sunshine in the dead of winter or a cup of coffee at dawn, OSO's songs stand out for their warmth and closeness, making listening to Sealand intimate and emotionally inspiring.
