"If It Kills You play churning, shimmering, post-hardcore that doesn’t skimp on hooks or passion. On their third album, Invisible Self (which was produced by ex-At The Drive In and Sparta member Jim Ward), they deliver a masterclass on how to create emotional and powerful post- hardcore. You may hear hints of bands such as Quicksand, Hum and Drive Like Jehu (whose song “If It Kills You” gave them their name), but they put enough of their own spin on these classic sounds, making them their own, and offering a fresh slab of post-hardcore.

You see, they have an innate ability to be powerful and shimmering at the same time. At times, their music veers into the the space-rock of the aforementioned, Hum, and even Shiner, but even when it does, they anchor that sound in powerful drums and churning bass. It also must be noted that guitarist/vocalist Justin Martin vocals, are earnest and truthful without ever being cloying. In addition, the guitar interplay between Martin and his guitarist/vocalist counterpart Kevin Clark is thrilling, as they spit out, jagged and shimmering riffs that play well off each other." - Thomas Pizzola / New Noise Magazine
