Harris, Jason – Carroll Street Caprice 7"
Jason Harris began his adult life as one of the rising stars of Atlanta’s real estate market. Blessed with a quick wit, a warm smile and penchant for making working people feel like “he’s one of us” even when he was ripping them off; the fates shone on Mr. Harris and his beautiful fiancée, Hazel Lubbert. So it came as quite a shock when, on the eve of closing an absurdly lucrative development deal, tragedy struck!
In a near-fatal accident, Jason was severely injured in what is normally a harmless laser hair-removal surgery. The doctors said he may never see or speak again, but in an inspiring showcase of strength and will, Jason was close to full recovery in no less than six months…though something had changed!
The charming smile, which had once lit even the darkest bars on Peachtree, had lost a few shades of white and grown a bit crooked. The red glow of his face, so present when he told a dirty joke or attended a hung-over brunch in his pajamas, had turned pale. When we tried to give him his favorite, worn Bulldogs cap he looked at us blankly as if he didn’t know what it is. His fiancée has left him; his former associates act like he’s dead; and he’s begun to make music!
…and now Rob’s House Records is releasing this 7” single of Jason Harris’ post-trauma compositions! (I really wish they wouldn’t encourage him, we’re hoping this is just a phase) Nobody had the heart to tell him that a psychedelic, Beatles-esque pop number (Carroll Street Caprice) and a vanilla-flavored Motown love song (Lewis & Dolly) is just bad business. It’s a shame! From someone who used to be so savvy about these sorts of things? Poor guy!
Additional info: Jason Harris can also be seen playing drums with The Selmanaires (International Hits, Atlanta, GA). Pressing of the Carroll Street Caprice 7” is limited to 300!
