"We've been following Odessa since the 'Costi/Benefici' tape. I prepare for this piece by rereading the review of the time, which you can find here. I smile. Aside from the parallel with NYC and Wu Tang... perhaps a little forced (but not for fuck's sake, NEVER)... I smile because I was right. "... Odessa? And here I'm going to go big... more than post-core, I'd almost say alternative. C.S.I...." "... and tell me if you don't find yourself catapulted to 'Socialismo Tascabile', to Offlaga. FOR GOOD. And I'm referring in particular to that hypnotic pace, that explosive chemistry..." "Nessun Atto Da Celebrare" is the perfect sequel to 'Costi/Benefici'.

Musically. If there were some “core” moments in ‘Costi/Benefici’… the shit we’ve sunk into here gives us no escape. They’re four songs, black as few. Let’s be clear. Not black like new wave… not dark like Peter Hook’s bass. “… Odessa? And here I’m going too far… more than post-core, I’d almost say alternative. C.S.I…” They’re four alternative songs played with the attitude of people who have been doing hardcore all their lives. Conceptually. If there was some “bright” color in ‘Costi/Benefici’… the red and the logo have always made me think of Fu Manchu (do your own thing)… in ‘Nessun Atto Da Celebrare’ the smoke on the cover (or are they clouds?) takes me to the tear gas of a demonstration… to the clashes, the heavy ones. Speaking of which. Conceptually. The atmosphere on the cover takes me to the latest Casino Royale. “Fumo” (so no, they’re NOT clouds), reviewed here. Another beautiful piece of gloom. Smoke coming out of (I think) a censer… rituals… church… Orthodoxy. Serious stuff. Urban gloom. Black dub. Odessa are Casino Royale doing indie. A huge compliment, in my opinion." - Franz1972 / Salad Days Mag
