"I can't really explain what makes this album feel so special to me.
It really just reminds me of childhood and summer.
I have known of sports existence for a while now, yet never really checked their music proberly out.
But I'm really happy I finally did.
For any band to have a reunion is of course awesome, but a Midwest Emo band with 9 years since their latest realease?
that's not an everyday occurance.
That makes it even cooler that this album is neither one such thing.
In waves has a such a soothing quality to it.
The riffs are just overall comfortable and almost meditative to listen to, the vocalists French accent gives it an even more human expression and to me at least just sound super refreshing and welcoming.
What separates in waves from other Midwest/ Math rock albums, is it's consistent usage of bubbly melodies, sometimes these provide joy at others sorrow or nostalgia.
In all honesty there's an almost folky and nostalgic energy to this album that reminds me of In the aeroplane over the sea.
I can highly recommend this for an early summer listen, this album just feels instantly like a friend." - Fabian Bechard / Album Of The Year
