"When Daylight Fades is the first album by the Brazilian project IN AURORAM and was released by Wave Records. The music glides along, closely following the footsteps of DEAD CAN DANCE and ATARAXIA, guided by singer Asteria's contrasting, penetrating voice. The Brazilians skillfully navigate somewhere between ice-cold neoclassical and warm folk, allowing us to share in their mysticism. The title track and opener, an instrumental gem of acoustic guitars, flutes, and organs, creates a mood of heavy, melancholic energy. In contrast, songs like "Time," "Frost Storm," "Turva Aurora," and "Over The Ashes" are dominated by Asteria's graceful voice, which is the most striking feature of the entire album. She manages to create threatening, hopeful, or downright hopeless moods with her singing alone, without the instruments having a significant influence. It might be too ambitious to draw too strong a comparison to Lisa Gerrard (DEAD CAN DANCE), but Asteria's voice is truly a force. I also don't want to take away IN AURORAM's originality and simply acknowledge that they've created some truly fantastic, atmospheric music, all from a land known only to Copacabana, football, or Carnival in Rio." - Amboss-Mag
