Beata Beatrix – In The Garden Of Ecstasy CD
"The Italian band BEATA BEATRIX was born in 2000 from the idea of current bassist Crowley. Hatria (voice and lyrics), Ricy (guitar and programming), and Crowley (bass and sampler) are the names behind this project. The band's name refers to the famous painting by Dante Gabriel Rossetti. The band will release their first official album on Wave Records, which includes their three self-produced demos: "Eliseba" (2003), "Delirum & Love" (2006), and "Malinconica Autunno" (2008). "In The Garden of Ecstasy" contains a mix of 80s gothic rock, 90s darkwave, and some EBM elements. The lyrics deal with very traditional gothic themes (heavenly visions, delirium, life after death) and the figure of Elisabeth Siddal (Rossetti's wife and muse, who committed suicide with laudanum). The song "My Mother Is Like A Stereo" deals with the difficult topic of sexual violence against children.
By combining three demos from very different creative phases, you experience different emotional states depending on your taste. I think that once Beata Beatrix finds their style and consistently pursues their path, the Italians definitely have potential. However, they need something distinctive and eye-catching, otherwise they'll disappear in the crowd of similar bands." - Michi / Amboss-Mag
