Beata Beatrix – The New Gothic Generation CD
"The style has changed a bit and pays delightful tribute to bands like Siouxsie & The Banshees , Inkkubus Sukkus and Collide . It's a much more interesting mix between darkwave and electronic , with a much more danceable and intense musicality. The group even incorporates elements of dark electro and synthpop into some compositions, making it more diverse, all with a more rock, more organic appeal.
The first track, “Jackyll” starts with a dark theme, but with a pop rock and cabaret feel, with a very cool melody. “The Mary & Song”, certainly the best song on the album, sounds like a mix of the Banshees and Curve. It’s heavy, beautiful and very gothic, avoiding the clichés of the genre. The electronic part of “Love Kills Love” is a bit reminiscent of Ayria , but in a more adult version.
There's even room for a bit of experimentalism on "Beata Beatrix," with a minimalist melody mixed with spoken word and some lyrical parts. The bombastic "Goodbye Hello (Fuck You)" is wonderful, sounding very '80s, the only song that pays tribute to the early goth sound. It's easy to see some traces of X Mal Deutschland and another Italian group, Lovecrave , but all with a lot of originality.
The group achieved much better with this release, and it can also be enjoyed by those who like good rock with female vocals." - Fabio / Groundcast
