It was the year 2001 when Charades began their journey in Madrid at the initiative of Isa (Bilbao), María (BCN), Coki (Ponferrada) and Guille (Madrid). Their first work was The Only One (H-Records, 2004), a four-song EP halfway between Garage and guitar Pop, with which they garnered excellent reviews and managed to attract the attention of the prestigious US label Kill Rock Stars, which included the group on the compilation album Tracks And Fields (2004) along with bands and artists such as Sonic Youth, Gossip, Decemberists, DOS and Billy Childish. After recording a second EP that never saw the light of day, Charades released When Shinning Blue (Corea Discos, 2006), their first big album, produced by Santi García, which they presented throughout the Spanish geography, performing at festivals such as PopXiriaPop and Spring Sound.

The good reviews multiplied and specialized media such as Route 66, Radio 3 and Rockdelux praised an album that managed to place the quartet in the arena of state independent rock. In the summer of 2007, after a year of hard work and continuous concerts, Charades reunited with Santi Garcia ready to record their second LP. After signing with the veteran label BCore, En No Lugar appears, a new collection of songs that shows the vibrant evolution of a group in continuous and inspired growth. Charades delves into more involving, complex, and somewhat mature paths.

Each song creates its own atmosphere where arrangements, melodies and structures fill this album with suggestive nuances. Acoustic guitars and basses are mixed with vocoders and delays; precious harmonies intertwine synthesizers and noisy passages, percussions that melt into delicate echoes… An unequivocal step forward, in which they manage to break free from labels, building a personal, elegant and luminous sound. An album of Cosmic Pop and Rock, soaked in his thoughts, ideas and good taste. Built on a base of excellent songs and a very careful production, Charades are proclaimed heirs to the glorious tradition started by bands like Love or American Spring shaking hands with the most acidic Breeders or the most pop Beachwood Sparks.
