Jamie 4 President – The Heartbreak Campaign lp

Some say that indie rock is dead. Others that there is not much left to do that has not been done in the 90s. Opinions that only strengthen the decisions of those who still feel the need to play certain types of chords within peculiar arrangements. Call them romantic, they will always be the ones who ignored fashions or generic hobbies that manage to drag the less restless. Sometimes these are the ones who say the most sensible and are best prepared to assume a presidency.

Jamie R.Green was born in Leeds, England, but grew up as a teenager during the 90s in Torremolinos, a town forever linked to rampant tourism and sardine skewers. Allied with Pablo Gonzalez, with whom he had left a deep mark on the Malaga scene with Notes To Myself, both already living in Madrid, they decided not to waste any more time, and in addition to being involved in parallel projects (Wild Animals and Fuckaine respectively) they managed to order their annual calendars to be able to continue writing, recording and touring with Jamie 4 President releasing "Where did our Youth Go?" (We are the Daughters, 2013) and "Dolphins" (El Morro de Alf, 2015).

But Madrid has not been the location responsible for generating alchemy, but Sant Feliu de Guixols, a place that requires little explanation to understand its place in the history of underground rock on the peninsula. There, in Santi and Victor García's Ultramarinos Costa Brava studios, they have found all kinds of inspiration and allies to continue this journey of balanced distortions, endless arpeggios and melancholic lyrics that define Jamie 4 President's songbook on their third album, « The Heartbreak Campaign”, an album that will be released by BCore, La Agonia de Vivir, Discos Finu, Pifia Recs and Waterslide Recs (Japan). Currently, the band formed by Jamie, Pablo, Xavi Calvet (Bullitt) on guitar/backing vocals and Borja Pérez de Pozo (Please Wait) on bass, live between Torremolinos on the south coast and Sant Feliu de Guíxols in the northeast. Different but similar. “Torremolinos-Sant Feliu connection”. The band plays with a sound that travels between Indie Rock, Emo and Power Pop where you can hear distant echoes of bands like Big Star, Death Cab for Cutie, Guided by Voices, The Promise Ring, The Wrens, Last Days of April, Jimmy Eat World (it was Clarity), as well as some '80s favorites like The Cure and The Smiths. Live they take their pop tunes and play them with an attitude more typical of a punk band. Do not miss it.
