Getting into a car with a full tank, hitting the first highway that comes within range and racking up kilometers without looking in the rear-view mirror. That is the spirit that moved Kraftwerk almost fifty years ago and it also seems to be the starting point for Jupiter Lion, except that the highways that this Valencian trio travels on are not in Germany but up there, between Venus and Uranus. That is the Jupiter Lion way, where the dimension contracts and expands and the third eye merges in a sincere embrace with our chakras. The group formed at the beginning of 2011 by Sais (synthesizers, vocals and programming), Jose Guerrero (bass) and Gonzo In Vegas (drums) uses the legacy of German experimental music, which at one point stopped looking towards the US and Europe and directed his concerns towards outer space, and takes it a little further, with nerve and sweat. Riding a kraut rock supernova that alternately condenses and releases energy, the band's fantastic first album for Bcore (recorded in July 2012 by Pablo Peiró -Betunizer bassist- at Sountess Studio) contains six excursions of rhythmic and hypnotic psychedelia that drive to the listener without rest. More, more and more. Jupiter Lion do not resort to dirty tricks or postcard epics, their thing is slow combustion and the most suggestive cinematics, the one that made fans of Stereolab or Tortoise enjoy when they rode on the back of the Great Motorik Turbine. Jose (also in Betunizer and La Orquesta del Caballo Ganador, among other projects) and Gonzo project with their constant pulsing rhythm a magic carpet that Sais knows how to use to take us on an interplanetary excursion without leaving home, exploring spaces from within and towards outside. Six songs that activate all the senses that have been and will be, a true sensory hurricane that promises an energetic, physical and hypnotic live performance in which dancing and the internal rotation of eyeballs are guaranteed.
