Madee – L'Antarctica CD
It is known that pain is where many times the most brilliant works are born. Sometimes the pain is destructive, paralyzing and obtuse. Sometimes the pain turns into rage and lack of control and crashes you into a wall. And sometimes the pain becomes irony. That is when prejudices disappear, when the orthodox does not matter, when everything matters nothing and the only motto to move forward is to open all the doors that previously seemed impossible to cross. At that moment, the artists feel an extraordinary power in their hands, the power of expressive freedom, because the pain only subsides when the vital force of the songs destroys the darkness of the spirit. And it is precisely the vitality that has made its way through the darkness to become an exceptionally brilliant album.
After three years of record silence, Madee have just recorded a new album. And we can assure you that, for many, L'Antarctica leaves its predecessors light years away. And considering the brilliant precedents (the majestic Orion's belt (2004), the powerful Secret chamber (2003) and the melancholic Songs from Cydonia (2002)), that means that we are in front of a magnum opus. Three years is a long time, and a lot has happened in them. Personal experiences, loss of loved ones, hours on the road and parallel projects (especially the Ghouls 'n Ghosts project, which brought together the talents of Ramon Rodríguez, singer, guitarist and alma mater, with that of Santi Garcia (No More Lies) and Víctor García (Crossword, Manhunt, Clarice), have made these six brilliant musicians from Cabrils take their compositional and performance skills to the extreme, and if many thought that it would be difficult to beat albums of the stature of Orion's belt, those forecasts crumble with a an album that literally takes your breath away, from the incredible initial Transference #2, through the moving Polonium to the withering Drive Away.
Madee wanted to make a special album and they have achieved it. From the richness of the instrumentation, leaving behind the wall of guitars to include an infinite number of new textures, sounds and instruments, wind and string sections that take your songs to a higher dimension, to a sense of the economy of time and resources. unpublished compositions in them, going through some lyrics that tell stories of a bitterness that gradually turns into a sense of humor, creating a shocking contrast between the mundane and the sublime.
