Moksha ‎– Sang De Roure CD

The forest is dark and cold. Sometimes a certain state of mind takes over us: our fists clench, we feel a buzzing in our temples and our heart beats faster. Moksha know perfectly well what I mean because I would bet anything that this state of mind is the one that serves as their artistic inspiration. The grease, the rot, the tar, the broken glass The Sant Celoni quartet lights the fire once more, as only the most experienced druids know how to do it. Axes and hammers take the musical form of riffs and blast beats; lyrics sung entirely in Catalan that show the darkest corners of the human soul and denounce the moral rot that sometimes surrounds us.

Without abandoning the signs of identity that have led them to be a reference within the European metal scene, Moksha deliver their most enraged album. Wisely combining monolithic riffs and bursts of blast beats with other more dynamic passages, the ten songs of Sang de Roure are a true punk and metal romp. While other bands elaborate a more intellectualized and technical discourse, the specialty of those from Sant Celoni is to keep the cauldron red hot at all times. If in previous moments of their career the band was surprised by turning towards more rock schemes, in Sang de Roure they are situated in parameters closer to Crust, Punk, Hardcore, Metal and in general everything that has little to do with with the world of daisies and poppies. The recording and production of the album is carried out by the experienced hands of Santi and Victor Garcia (Ultramarinos Costabrava from Sant Feliu de Guixols, a guarantee of sound collection). Moksha are back from everything and they hit the accelerator fully, resulting in a collection of songs that leaves you glued to your seat. Sang de Roure opens in a spectacular way with the title track of the LP, which perfectly places the stylistic framework through which the remaining nine songs move: darkness, fat, kilos of riffs, a rhythm section with weight and direction, references to His Hero Is Gone, Entombed and Converge but also to Sepultura or Carcass. A work, in short, that confirms Moksha in the cavalry of honor of state and European metal. Cucumbers are sometimes disc-shaped and Sang de Roure is one such case.
