Nueva Vulcano – Novelería CD

When, after the campaign of their acclaimed Los peces de colores (BCore, 2009), Nueva Vulcano was about to leave it after a season of important life changes and a long period of absence, something must have gone through their heads to decide to resume a career. for which not even they themselves bet. Perhaps because they are three people who do not know what it is to accommodate or force exits through the back door; perhaps because Wences Aparicio (from Shanty Rd.) has been composing and breaking down unusual musical structures since the mid-90s and it won't be now that he stops doing it; perhaps because after having invented half of the sound of the city of Barcelona, Artur Estrada (the one from Aina) doesn't like sitting on a sofa with a pipe and slippers longing for past times; or perhaps because there is no force in nature capable of stopping the feet, arms, ears and tongue of Albert Guàrdia (from La Castanya).

What happened is that this period of inactivity helped them come to the conclusion that they matter more to themselves than they thought, that over the years they have built a small universe full of crucial characters, unique moments, experiences of all kinds and endless learning. And, above all, that they feel proud of it and want to proclaim it to the four winds, in a brave, calm, enthusiastic and firm manner. They want to tell us who they are, where they come from, why they do what they do, and why they want to invite you to join their adventure. Musical nods to the Jawbreaker or Green Day of their youth (in the revealing debut single that we have been listening to for a long time, Pop and spirituality), to the usual Seam, Superchunk and Jawbox, to the dark rock of Unwound or Jesus Lizard, or The Van Pelt and Chris Leo in Artur's unusual and acclaimed vocal reinvention in We've done things.
