TIGHT PHANTOMZ came together in 2003 when guitarist/vocalist Mike Lust and drummer Jay Dandurand emerged from the ashes of their noted Chicago outfit LUSTRE KING. Their shows quickly became legendary. No audience was safe. Everyone was being violated and annihilated by the five-fingered James Brown dominance of Lust coupled with the mindset that whatever your troubles were, whatever pinned you down, didn t matter, because it was time to f*cking get it on. TIGHT PHANTOMZ released their debut EP NIGHTFOOL (2004) and full length CRAZY WHEN WET (2005) on Southern Records. Between those records, they even made an appearance on the Chicago volume of the Brendan Canty(FUGAZI)-curated BURN TO SHINE DVD series. In 2006, with the departure of his bandmates and the dissolution of their label Southern Records, producer/head Phantom Mike Lust set out on a free association songwriting kick that would lend itself to two separate song cycles. The working title from day one was SILK PRISON. Recorded entirely in Lust's Phantom Manor studio, it wouldn't be until Spring 2009 that he had enough material to tie the two discs together in a cohesive manner. The result, SILK PRISON, is a return to the long forgotten album format, in direct defiance of today's disposable mp3 generation. Though it's a dark trip, it carries the same self-deprecating thread as classic drunken REPLACEMENTS channeled through BLACK SABBATH. There's noise, psychedelia, and all the classic reference points of any great record collection. SILK PRISON is a gatefold double LP on colored vinyl with a free download code included.
