"The Paduan band's new mini album comes in a luxurious silver digipack, but more importantly, it marks two major changes. First, the singer, with Leonardo Amati (Slander) now at the mic. Second, the lyrics, which have been switched from English to their native tongue. What hasn't changed at all is the corrosive and layered style of a band that loves sludge at least as much as hardcore ('Ritmi' could easily be a Negazione track) and that has accumulated significant live experience over the years.
The switch to Italian, if you recall, anticipated by the single "Giorni Persi" from "Petricore," appears crucial to the album's more aggressive approach, and the four tracks in question are the most carefully crafted yet. One line from "Specchio" particularly struck me, "You are everything you hated, the nightmare you feared, every choice you made has stolen your path/ lost in the darkness, the face of truth, and you look in the mirror and there's no dignity left." Because music and life are made of mirrors, of reflections, of how we look within ourselves and delve into the depths of our inner selves, but also of how others look at us.
Sometimes we try to appear different from who we are, and at other times we fall victim to prejudice. This translates into a series of lethal rhythmic breaks, granite-like riffs, and punk invectives. However, the setlist also features more refined sonic structures, which can be further expanded in the future. "E Quando Il Sole Si Spegnerà, Saremo Noi A Bruciare Il Cielo" and "Veleno D'Ombra" are the pinnacles of a visceral listening experience, completely unconcerned with the volume of the amplifiers and a tribute to an Italian underground scene that finds some respite precisely thanks to powerful releases like these." - Lorenzo Becciani / -Core
